Why Hyva Magento performance scam?

Hyva became the buzzword in the Magento development. They claimed Hyva – magento performance savior. You only need to pay 1000$ for the Hyva license and $100K+ for the migration services, and the Magento 2 performance will be fixed.

Magneto 2 is legacy system with a lot of historical performance problem + new releases introduces new performance issues and challenges.

The main Magento 2 and Adobe Commerce performance issues are connected with the extremely slow core framework architecture. This leads to slow server response time on user requests for non-cached FPC(Full Page Cache) pages. The biggest issues with Magento occur after the system is customized to the business needs, and theme/skin can’t fix them.

Why is Hyva a scam?

It 100% relies on Magento FPC performance and not on a real backend page generation performance. It is a viral scam in the Magento agency world to present to the customer cached to a static HTML page and show how fast the Magento 2 website site they made. However, FPC doesn’t solve performance issues. It just hides them.

Full Page Cache (FPC) stores the entire HTML output of pages to speed up the delivery to users. However, FPC doesn’t resolve performance issues:

E-commerce pages contain highly dynamic content that changes frequently (price, description, inventory, admin operations, orders, search results) and can often invalidate the cache, reducing the effectiveness of FPC. This is common in personalized or real-time content scenarios.

Cache invalidation leads to stale content being served or frequent cache refreshes, both of which can impact performance.

Magento 2 core framework performance and bottlenecks, FPC cannot compensate for these issues. The generation of the cache still depends on the backend performance.

Some pages or components (checkout, cart, user account, admin area, compare logic, sorting and filters and searches) can’t not be cacheable due to their dynamic nature, meaning FPC can’t be applied universally across whole site.

Magneto FPC consumes significant server resources, especially memory and storage of the Redis. It can lead to performance degradation instead of improvement. And Hyva doesn’t fix this.

There’s a clear demonstration of how Google PageSpeed Insights (PSI) fails to reflect real Magento performance. A Magento 2 store with a slow Time to First Byte (TTFB) – a common issue for many Magento sites – can still achieve a high PageSpeed score, misleading developers and merchants into thinking their store is optimized.

However, this score doesn’t represent actual user experience. A fast frontend metric means little if the backend response times are slow, leading to delays in loading content, frustrating users, and negatively impacting conversions.

Real performance should be measured using TTFB, Core Web Vitals, real user monitoring (RUM), and load testing, rather than relying solely on PSI scores.

High traffic spikes might still overwhelm the server, no matter is FPC is enabled and your Theme is Hyva. The most significant issue with Magento 2 is traffic. It can generate a couple of pages at the same time, but when your business is successful, and you have traffic, Magento 2 and Adobe Commerce will definitely Fail. This is another scum technology of the agencies. They are testing websites under single user but not under load.

Hyva “Doesn’t solve performance issues”

To resolve Magento performance issues, a comprehensive approach is needed that includes optimizing backend performance, proper resource allocation, and proper hosting. Most Magento hosting, especially Adobe Commerce Cloud, is as bad as the rest of the Magento ecosystem. Performance is not just a Magento theme change.

WATCH THIS before re-platforming to Hyva!

What does Hyva do?

Hyva is just a new lightweight and simple theme for Magento. It doesn’t provide any core Magento performance fixes. It is just less CSS and JS because they are not following the best Magento-fronted practices and can avoid Magento modular JS overhead. Is it unique? No. You can create your own Magento without using Magento core JS, which will be faster. You can create a theme without using JS frameworks at all or using your favorite JS framework without Hyva binding to Tailwind and Alpine.js. You can use Reac.Js Components and still have good performance. However, the theme was never an issue for Magento. The main issues are backend Magento 2 architecture, mistakes in the core framework, and bad performance and scams of the agencies and Adone.

Adobe Minions is trying to assure the community that Hyva is the future. However, good developers know the truth and do not engage in scams!

While I wrote this article, the US Government Court of San Jose, California, accused Adobe of Scam. Adobe and Agencies is not a software developers the are software cartel operated to scam using software.

Magento 2 Core Backend Framework performance must be fixed, which could benefit more than just using an experimental custom frontend.

Magento 2 is 10 times slower than M1. This is the issue, and a good Google Page Speed scope doesn’t fix it. Magento frontend performance can’t be performance overhead because it is rendered on the customer’s browser and can’t affect other users’ performance. However, bad Magento core performance affects any user.

There is an example of how Agencies deceive Magento merchants that only Magento frontend is an issue:

Frontend technologies must be considered not based on the Google Page Speed Score but based on the developer’s availability, preferences, and popularity. Alpine JS is a kind of modern KnockoutJS and could be abandoned any time soon. Fortune 500 companies select technology stack(Python, NodeJS, ReactJS, VueJs) and not Google page speed score which doesn’t really matter. For some businesses, factors like brand recognition, customer loyalty, and conversion rates are more critical than Google page speed. A slightly slower site but using better technologies still meets business goals.

In 2019, we released an extension that disables all the Magento JS scripts. You can then use your favorite JS libraries to implement your features without Magento JS overhead. What’s more, you can still use the same theme without migrations to a custom frontend like Hyva.

In 2020 we released open source Magento JS less theme for Magento.

Also, there are a lot of alternative free frontends for Magento, like Breez, and React Luma, Argento, that follow the same approach:

The only reason why Hyva is popular is that it is a scam.

In 2022, when the Magento community was shocked by the Russian invasion of Ukraine from Belarus territory, Ukrainian developers joined the army to protect their country and the rest of Europe, and all were focused on helping Ukrainians prevent Genocide.

Belarus, occupied by Russia, has supported its eastern neighbor in the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Belarus allowed the Russian Criminals to perform weeks-long military drills on its territory; Belarus allowed Russia to stage part of the invasion from its territory, giving Russia the shortest possible land route to Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, and Bucha, where the Genocide of the local residents was committed.

Hyva partnered with sanctioned Belarus to extend third-party extension support with the companies Amasty, Aheadwork, and others to sell this extension to the European and U.S. Hyva customers and sponsor BelaRusian war economics. It just shows how greedy this company is. According to the research, 97% of the merchants and developers are against Russian and Belarusian extractions and sponsor modern war criminal governments. Pray for Ukraine! God remembers everything.

Hyva is presented as Magento 2 savior however it is just a scammy advertisement technique to suck more merchants into Magneto 2 traps by Adobe criminal Cartel. Faster frontend loading is not equal to performance. And Why Hyva is the future of Magento but not Breeze frontend, which has better performance without re-platforming to the new Magento Frontend to achieve slightly better performance. Because they just over-advertise what they do. Unfortunately, the Magento community is enslaved by Adobe and can’t freely develop solutions. Only solutions “approved” by the Association can be lifted up and promoted. The rest of the solutions will be bashed. You need to lick Adobe and scam the merchants about Magento solutions. It is not the only Hyva Theme issue. It is an entire Magento industry issue. Magento 2 is a scam from the day 1. Hyva is here to tell the device merchant that all Magento 2 issues are fixed, and it is a new scam of the Adobe cartel.
